What have we done? And other fancy thoughts while mowing…

I started to blog yesterday, one of the toughest days we have had so far.  But it was full of whining, boring details of waffle batter gone bad, yelling mommy moments and 2 older kids who didn’t listen.  The day finally came to an end after XS fell asleep in the jogger walking home at 6:45pm from Calista’s soccer practice…

I had been mowing earlier that day during a short respite from fighting children.  And I literally thought: what have I done?  Why did we think joining the outnumbered club was our calling?

Well, I got over it.  A short night’s sleep, a long early swim at the Y and a morning at the zoo restored my faith in God’s ability to judge my tolerance, patience and self-control.

So this afternoon as I reflect back on this week I am more motivated to share some highlights of the week than all those yucky things about yesterday.

We got ourselves fancy Wednesday night and headed down to the Glensheen Masion.  Our kids have not been there before so we paid the $20 for 2 adult tickets and free kids entered the house for a self-guided tour.

I know I know: really?  Taking 3 kids under 7 through the Glensheen?  The queen of “don’t touch this” works around every corner.

Well the kids did great.  Mostly b/c we flew through it and XS had a matchbox car in each hand!  They loved running the grounds and gardens too.

Then there was a free, outdoor concert.  One of our church friends ended up knowing the lead banjo or fiddle player (can’t remember). He dates their daughter:)

We sat on a blanket and tried to get some fancy family pictures.  This is what happens when I can’t see everyone’s faces:fancyfam

Note: Calista has not turned into a vampire. That's popcorn. Why she didn't swallow it is beyond me. We have about 8 like this.

Hands down my favorite XS shot to date.

We also had some major language improvement this week.  Below are 2 videos of proof we have a quick learner who will also need a lot of speech therapy in the future!  His favorite word to “say” is “motorcycle.”  If you watch it you can see what I mean:)
